Biography

David Hodos is a 16-year-old Canadian pianist and composer from Montreal, distinguished by a remarkably mature musical sensibility and a deeply personal relationship with sound. From an early age, the piano became for him a space of freedom — a place where instinct, imagination, and discipline converge, and where interpretation and creation naturally coexist.

Trained in the classical tradition, David has developed a strong affinity for the great repertoire, particularly the works of the Romantic era. His interpretations are guided by nuance, emotional clarity, and a constant search for meaning beyond technique. At the same time, composition occupies a central place in his artistic identity. Writing music allows him to extend his musical thinking, transforming lived experience, memory, and inner reflection into sound.

His original works explore themes of childhood, time, and transformation, forming a direct dialogue with the repertoire he performs. Rather than separating composer and interpreter, David approaches both roles as inseparable — interpretation feeding creation, and creation deepening interpretation.

Through concerts in Canada and across Europe — including France, Italy, Austria, and Romania — David has developed a compelling and focused stage presence. Each performance is conceived as an immersive journey, where original compositions and masterworks coexist within a unified artistic vision.

A laureate of several prestigious competitions, including the Concours de musique de la Capitale, the Vienna New Year’s Concert International Music Competition, and the Classical Music Stars Competition, David views these distinctions as milestones rather than conclusions. Guided by inspiring teachers and mentors, he continues to refine his voice with humility, curiosity, and artistic integrity.
